Bryan Anderson Takes Over As ExxonMobil’s Global Lithium Leader
Bryan Anderson, most recently midstream infrastructure manager for ExxonMobil, is now the global lithium leader for the energy giant, according to a LinkedIn post by former lithium leader Patrick Howarth.
Anderson took over July 1, Howarth wrote.
“When we began this journey four years ago, we had a simple thesis: the world will need significantly more lithium in the future, and ExxonMobil’s capabilities could create a competitive advantage in supplying it,” Howarth added. “Today, I am more confident in that belief than ever.”
Howarth has been named vice president of global LNG business development for ExxonMobil. He had been front and center for ExxonMobil in Arkansas since the company announced its entry into the Natural State at a news conference with Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders in 2023.
At the time, the company had just acquired mineral rights from Galvanic Energy of Oklahoma City on 120,000 acres near Magnolia for an estimated $100 million.
ExxonMobil says it has acquired the brine rights to more than 300,000 net acres of the Smackover Formation since 2023.
Those rights are held by an ExxonMobil affiliate, Saltwerx LLC.
Last year, Saltwerx received a lithium royality rate of 2.5% for its Pine Unit, in parts of Lafayette and Miller counties.
Anderson has worked at Exxon for 21 years and previously held roles including asset manager, commercial manager and manager of business analysis.
