  • Tetra Technologies Inc. of Spring, Texas, is seeking a 2.5% royalty rate on brine extracted to procure lithium from the Smackover Formation in Arkansas. The request was originally scheduled for the Arkansas Oil & Gas Commission’s Jan. 27 meeting, which was canceled due to inclement weather. It will likely go before the commission’s next meeting in March. | Read the article

  • Stars & Stripes reports on the U.S. military’s heavy reliance on Chinese-made batteries for its weapons systems, and that the 2026 National Defense Authorization Act mandates a domestic battery supply chain by January 2028. | Read the article 

  • EnergyX, which acquired Dayton Lithium last year and is working on Project Lonestar near Texarkana, has launched NUKE-it, a nuclear materials technology platform focused on producing nuclear-grade critical materials like lithium isotopes and compounds. | Read the article
